FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT DETOX CENTERS

Are visitors allowed during detox?
Generally no, but it depends on the specific detox center. Each center or facility has different rules for detoxification and treatment processes so it’s recommended to make contact ahead of time.
How long does detox take?
It depends on several factors, including what substance you or your loved one used, how much was used, length of use, and your overall health.
How do I contact a client in detox?
You or your loved one will need to fill out a Release of Information (ROI) form for anyone to contact them. HIPPA laws don’t allow a center to confirm or deny a client’s presence without the signed ROI.
What do I do about my job while I’m in detox?
You may be eligible for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). This federal law makes sure you aren’t terminated while on a leave of absence for detox and/or treatment. The admissions staff at your detox center can help with setting up and filing FMLA paperwork if necessary.
Can I detox at home?
This is strongly not recommended. Detoxing without medical supervision is risky and often dangerous. Some substances are known to have severe withdrawal symptoms that can become life-threatening without medical care. Seek professional help to safely recover.
