A Different Approach to Healing
We Bridge the Gap Between Clinical Care and Real Life
Many people believe that “rehab” means disappearing for 30 days and then returning to the same stressful environment without new tools. We believe there is a better way.
Our model focuses on Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs. This means you receive world-class, intensive clinical care during the day, but you return to the comfort of your home or a sober living environment at night.
Why is this approach effective?
-
Real-World Practice: You learn coping skills in therapy and practice them immediately in your daily life.
-
Connection: You remain connected to your support system rather than being isolated.
-
Flexibility: Our levels of care allow you to balance treatment with your responsibilities as you progress.
-
Privacy: We respect your life and your need for discretion.
Our Levels of Care
Finding the Right Fit for Your Recovery
We offer a continuum of care designed to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you are stepping down from a detox program or taking the first step in seeking help, we have a structured program for you.
Structured Support for a Strong Foundation
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), often called Day Treatment, is our most intensive level of care. It is designed for individuals who need significant structure and medical monitoring but do not require 24-hour residential supervision.
-
Who it’s for: Individuals who need a full day of structured therapy to stabilize their health and mental well-being.
-
What to expect: You will spend your days at our comfortable Massachusetts facility, engaging in individual therapy, group counseling, and holistic activities.
-
The Goal: To stabilize physical and emotional health, build a strong foundation for sobriety, and prepare for the next step in recovery.
Is PHP right for you? If you are struggling to stay sober on your own and need a safe, immersive environment to hit “reset,” this is the place to start.
Flexibility Meets Focus
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers a balance between rigorous treatment and independent living. It is ideal for those who have completed a PHP program or for those who need support while maintaining work, school, or family commitments.
-
Who it’s for: Individuals ready to start transitioning back into their daily routines while maintaining a strong safety net of clinical support.
-
What to expect: Flexible sessions (often available in the mornings or evenings) that fit your schedule. You will continue therapy and peer support groups.
-
The Goal: To help you apply recovery skills in real-time, navigate triggers in your daily life, and build long-term resilience.
Sustaining Your Success
Recovery is a lifelong journey. Our Outpatient Treatment (OP) provides ongoing support as you fully reintegrate into your life. This is the maintenance phase of recovery, ensuring you stay connected to your sober community and have a space to process life’s challenges.

Specialized Tracks: Treatment Designed for You
No two stories are the same. That is why we don’t offer cookie-cutter treatment. We have developed specialized tracks to address the unique challenges faced by different groups of people.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Healing the Mind and the Addiction It is very common for addiction to exist alongside mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, PTSD, or bipolar disorder. This is called a “co-occurring disorder” or Dual Diagnosis. If you only treat the addiction and ignore the mental health struggle, recovery is much harder to maintain. At Refresh Recovery, we treat both at the same time for comprehensive healing.
Trauma-Informed Care
Safety First, Always For many, trauma is the root cause of substance use. Our staff is trained in trauma-informed care. This means we prioritize your emotional safety above all else. We ask, “What happened to you?” rather than “What is wrong with you?” We use therapies like EMDR to help you process past pain without being re-traumatized.
Men’s and Women’s Programs
Safe Spaces to Be Vulnerable Gender-specific treatment allows for deeper connection and safety.
-
Men’s Program: Focuses on breaking down the stigma of vulnerability, managing anger and stress, and building a brotherhood of support.
-
Women’s Program: Addresses unique challenges such as relationships, trauma, body image, and parenting, creating a sisterhood of empowerment.
Veterans and First Responders
Honoring Your Service We offer specialized support for those who have served. We understand the unique weight of PTSD, occupational stress, and the culture of service. Our program helps you find new ways to cope with the things you have seen and experienced.
Professionals Program
Protecting Your Career and Your Health We know that professionals face high pressure and fear losing their careers. Our discreet program allows you to get the help you need while learning to manage work-related stress and burnout without substances.
How We Help You Heal: Our Therapies
We use evidence-based therapies—methods that are proven to work. But we also believe in healing the spirit. Our comprehensive addiction treatment programs in MA blend science with holistic wellness.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Learn to spot the negative thoughts that lead to drinking or using drugs, and replace them with healthier ones.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Gain practical skills to handle intense emotions, tolerate distress, and improve your relationships.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A powerful therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from traumatic memories.
-
Motivational Interviewing: We help you find your own motivation for change, rather than telling you what to do.
-
Group Therapy: Connect with peers who truly understand what you are going through. You will realize you are not alone.
-
Family Therapy: Addiction affects the whole family. We provide a space to rebuild trust, improve communication, and heal together.
-
Mindfulness & Meditation: Learn to stay present in the moment, reducing anxiety and the urge to use.
-
Vocational Support: We help you build the confidence and skills to return to work or school successfully.
Our Massachusetts facility is equipped to treat a wide range of substance use disorders. Whether you are struggling with one substance or a combination, we can help.
-
Alcohol Use Disorder: From heavy drinking to physical dependence.
-
Opioid Addiction: Including Heroin, Fentanyl, and prescription painkillers (OxyContin, Vicodin).
-
Stimulant Addiction: Including Cocaine, Crack, and Methamphetamine.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We know you have questions. Here are answers to some of the most common concerns we hear from clients and families.
Do I have to sleep at the facility?
No. Refresh Recovery focuses on Day Treatment (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP). You will spend your days with us receiving intensive therapy, but you will sleep at your own home or in a sober living environment. This allows you to maintain your connections and practice your recovery in the real world.
How long does the program last?
There is no set time for recovery because everyone is different. However, most clients spend:
-
PHP: 2 to 4 weeks (Full days, 5-6 days a week).
-
IOP: 4 to 8 weeks (Half days, 3-5 days a week).
-
OP: Ongoing support as needed. Your clinical team will constantly evaluate your progress and adjust your plan to ensure you are ready for the next step.
Will my employer know I am in rehab?
Your privacy is our priority. We are bound by HIPAA laws and federal regulations (42 CFR Part 2) that protect the confidentiality of addiction treatment records. We cannot share any information with your employer without your written consent. Many of our clients use FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) to take time off securely.
Can I bring my phone or laptop?
Yes. Because we are a PHP/IOP program designed to help you integrate recovery into your life, we understand the need to stay connected. We may have guidelines on when you can use devices to ensure you are focused during therapy sessions, but we do not cut you off from the outside world.
What if I have a mental health diagnosis too?
That is exactly what we specialize in. This is called Dual Diagnosis. We have a psychiatric team and therapists trained to treat depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health conditions alongside addiction. We believe you cannot fully recover from one without addressing the other.
Does insurance cover this?
In most cases, yes. Most major health insurance plans cover substance abuse treatment as an essential health benefit. We accept many private insurance plans. Call us at 888-702-1788 or use our online form, and we will verify your specific coverage for free.
What happens if I relapse?
Relapse can be a part of the recovery journey, but it doesn’t mean failure. If you relapse, we are here to help you get back on track without judgment. We will review your treatment plan, identify what triggered the relapse, and adjust your care to give you more support.
